Join PA HALLOWED GROUNDS on April 15, 2025 at 7 p.m. via ZOOM for “Burial practices and Cemetery Laws in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania” presented by Elizabeth Rairigh, the Preservation Services Division Manager at the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office.
Rairigh’s presentation will cover:
o The history and current laws of the state burial practices
o Challenges cemeteries face
o State Historic Preservation Office’s role in burial and cemetery preservation
More About Our Speaker:
Elizabeth Rairigh is the Preservation Services Division Manager at the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office. In her role at the SHPO, she manages the National Register program and serves as the Certified Local Government coordinator. Prior to joining the SHPO, she served as Historic Preservation Planner for a regional planning agency in Massachusetts, and a consultant with KSK Architects Planners Historians, Inc., in Philadelphia. Ms. Rairigh has an undergraduate degree in anthropology from the College of William and Mary in Virginia, and a Masters of City Planning and an MS in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania.
